Join San Antonio’s Tech Community
Remember: The hackerspace is just our tool. Building a thriving tech community is our mission.
The Alamo Tech Collective provides a dedicated hackerspace for San Antonio’s tech community, a place where software developers, cybersecurity professionals, indie hackers, and tech students can work, learn, and collaborate. But more importantly, it’s where we’re building the connections and culture that will define San Antonio tech for years to come.
Visit the Space
Come see what we’re building. Schedule a tour to check out the hackerspace and meet our community. Tours run during regular business hours, no commitment required.
Membership
Two tiers. Same community.
Free Tier
Hackerspace access Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM. No monthly fee.
The space, the WiFi, the coffee, the people; on us. If you’re showing up during weekday hours to work, collaborate, around others with the same drive and motivation, the door is open.
What’s included:
- Hackerspace access weekdays, 8 AM – 5 PM
- Full WiFi, workstations, and meeting space
- Unlimited coffee
- Access to all open ATC events and workshops
What’s not included: Weekend access, after-hours access (5 PM – 8 AM).
24/7 Tier — $50/month
Round-the-clock hackerspace access for the late-night builders, weekend warriors, and “I just got hit with an idea at 2 AM” crowd.
Everything in the free tier, plus:
- 24/7 access
- Weekend access
- After-hours work without coordinating with anyone
If your best hours aren’t 9 to 5, this is the tier for you.
No contracts. No corporate BS. Just tech.
How to Join
ATC has always been a space for people who actively participate in the community, and that’s not changing, we’re just removing the financial barrier for everyone who already does.
If you want in:
We review every application individually. You’ll typically hear back within 24 hours. There’s no fixed quota and no waitlist, we’re looking for fit, not filling slots.
Want the 24/7 tier? Same application, just let us know which one you’re applying for.
What It Means to Be Part of This
We’re looking for people who treat ATC as a place they help build, not just a space they use. That can look like a lot of different things:
- Helping your fellow Hackerspace members — answering questions, pairing on problems, sharing what you know
- Showing up to events — Byte Night, Hack Night, workshops, the recurring beats that make this a community
- Hosting your own events — a workshop on your expertise, a study group, a meetup for your corner of tech
- Being an ambassador of a growing, thriving, serious tech community — out in the world, in the city, in your network
You don’t have to do all of these. We’re looking for people who show up consistently in some way, not people checking boxes on a contribution scorecard.
What we’re not looking for: people who want a free coworking space, people who treat ATC like a perk to use without joining the community, or people whose only ATC interaction is benefiting from what others build.
If you’re not sure whether you’d qualify, the honest answer is: apply, and let us tell you. We’d rather have the conversation than have you talk yourself out of it.
For Current Paid Members
If you’ve been paying for ATC membership, here’s what you need to know.
Your monthly rate is dropping from $99 to $50 on July 1st. No action needed, the change happens automatically, and you keep the same 24/7 access you’ve always had.
If you’d rather move to the free tier instead and stop paying, just let us know. There’s no penalty, no awkwardness, and no judgment, some of you only need the daytime hours, and we want the tier you’re on to match what you actually use.
Either way: thank you for backing this place when there were fewer reasons to. None of this happens without you.

Who This Is For
If you’ve ever felt out of place at a traditional coworking space, this is for you:
- Software developers tired of explaining what they do
- Cybersecurity professionals who need a community of peers
- Indie hackers building the next big thing
- Students looking to learn from real practitioners
- Remote workers who miss having tech colleagues
FAQ
Is this just for experienced developers?
No. We welcome everyone from students to senior engineers. What matters is genuine interest in technology and building things.
What happens to my current paid membership?
On July 1st, your rate automatically drops from $99/month to $50/month, and your 24/7 access continues uninterrupted. If you’d prefer to switch to the free tier, message @sly on Discord or email [contact email].
How long does the application review take?
We aim to respond within [review window — TBD, e.g., two weeks]. Reviews happen on a rolling basis, not in batches.
What if I’m not approved?
We’ll let you know honestly and tell you what would help. Most “not yet” responses are about visibility — we don’t know you yet, or we haven’t seen you at events. The path forward is usually showing up to a few recurring events (Byte Night is the easiest) and reapplying.
Can I bring guests?
Yes. If you’re a member, you can bring a guest with you — you’re responsible for them while they’re in the space. For repeat or extended guest access, message @sly so we can coordinate.
Is there parking?
Yes, free parking is available for all members and guests.
What about weekends?
Weekends are 24/7 tier only. If you only occasionally need weekend access, it’s usually cheaper to upgrade for a single month than to maintain ongoing access.
Why did you change the pricing structure?
The short version: growing the community lets us run the building more efficiently per person. That made it possible to drop the 24/7 price and open the daytime doors to everyone who’s already contributing. The longer version: we want ATC to be defined by who’s in the building, not who can afford it.
